Chamisa assures supporters party name is done

Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has assured his legion of supporters that the issue of a party name is already done and dusted as they prepare for 2023 elections.

BULAWAYO – Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has assured his legion of supporters that the issue of a party name is already done and dusted as they prepare for 2023 elections.

Speaking at the 22nd MDC Anniversary celebrations on Saturday, the popular politician told supporters not to worry but go in numbers and register to vote for elections to ensure victory for the movement.

Chamisa has been left in a fix of late after his surrogate rival MDC-T leader Douglas Mwonzora has claimed ownership of the MDC Alliance name, properties and elected officials.

Mwonzora has received the backing of the ruling party led by Emmerson Mnangagwa in his drive to decimate opposition politics in Zimbabwe.

It is expected that Chamisa will settle for Citizens Convergence for Change (CCC) as the new party name because of its popularity among citizens while its use on many occasions by the party may be another hint.
