BEIJING – Zimbabwean citizens in the diaspora are now required to apply for a passport renewal eight months prior to expiry.
According to the latest information released by the country’s embassy in China, the latest developments are due to the complications brought by covid-19.
“The Embassy of the Republic of Zimbabwe to the People’s Republic of China would like to take this opportunity to encourage all Zimbabwean nationals in China to start the renewal process when their passports are left with at least eight months to expire.
“This decision arises from the fact that the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown measures in Zimbabwe have affected operations of various Passport Offices, thereby causing delays in the issuance of new passports,” reads the letter.
The letter released on 05 February 2021 was written by the Charge d’Affaires, MS Dube.
