BULAWAYO – Former Zimbabwe international, Peter Ndlovu has been chosen to lead a new political party ahead of the anticipated 2023 elections.
Ndlovu, the most decorated player of all time in Zimbabwe football is the new leader of All People’s Party (APP) which according to information was formed in October last year.
The party is already registered with Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) and will be eligible to participate in any elections in the country such as by-elections or general elections.
Sebastain Mubvumbi is currently the acting President in the absence of Ndlovu who is attached to South Africa’s DSTV Premier League side Mamelodi Sundowns as the team manager.
“At the moment the party’s leadership is led by me as the acting leader. Peter Ndlovu is the elected leader of the party, he is well known for his football exploits in the country and overseas.
“We formed a new party after realising that it is difficult to join other established parties and change their status quo. All those parties do not promote equal opportunities for all.
“Parties are failing to come together to improve the lives of general citizens and push for economic recovery.
“All these politicians are busy trying to fend for their families through politics, whilst the majority of the citizens are just used.
“Most parties lie about what people want. Representatives in parliament and in councils are just imposed on people,” Mubvumbi told RosGwen Online.
The acting All People’s Party boss also outlined the new things his outfit will offer to people and the politics of the country.
“We are saying parties must not impose representatives for communities. It is the duty of people to elect leaders of their choice. We as APP, our mantra is power to the people,” said Mubvumbi.
The party revealed that it is ready to participate in any of the elections and victory is certain for them.
“We are ready to participate in the elections. Our party is being fairly received everywhere and we will have representatives all over the country,” he said.
Farai Tafirenyika Jiji is vice president, Calisto Muchinjiko is the acting national chairperson while Ruwerishe Bhebhe is the Women’s League chairperson.
She will be deputised by Ronika Tekede. Brighton Chipfu is the youth leader, with Bhekithemba Siwelo coming in as the deputy. Sydeney Chabvamutero is the treasurer general.
