HARARE – Labour Economists and African Democrats (LEAD) President Linda Masarira has become the latest political figure interested in joining the unpopular Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) platform directed by spendthrift President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
The interest from Masarisa comes after the recent issuing of luxurious vehicles to POLAD principals by Mnangagwa which has also triggered an influx of request to join the platform by some little known parties.
Zimbabwe secretary for Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs, Virginia Mabhiza confirmed the latest development saying the request to join the platform has been overwhelming since rewarding of Mnangagwa’s henchmen.
“Ever since the issuing of vehicles to POLAD principals, I have been overwhelmed by an influx of requests and applications of political parties requesting to join POLAD.
“Some of the political parties are not even known or registered. I’m overwhelmed right now. If I just open my email, there are about eight applications.
“There are some more than these that have come forward since the issue of vehicles came out,” said Mabhiza.

POLAD is a platform which consists of political parties and individuals who contested and dismally lost in the July 2018 elections.
The nineteen POLAD principals recently received brand new vehicles from Mnangagwa worth a whooping US$1.14 million.
The country’s popular figure Nelson Chamisa, leader of MDC Alliance party, has consistently rejected calls to join the platform since losing the 2018 elections in controversial circumstances.
He has repeatedly called the gathering “a mickey-mouse’ event to silence talk of the Zanu PF government’s legitimacy.
