BLANTYRE – Kalisto Pasuwa’s Nyasa Big Bullets dropped crucial points in the title race losing 1-0 to rivals Mighty Wanderers in the Malawian TNM Super League on Sunday.
The defeat left Big Bullets on 56 points from 28 games, just a point ahead of second placed Silver Strikers with two games to go before the end of the season.
Pasuwa, whose club was recently knocked out of the CAF Champions League losing 3-1 at home to South Africa’s AmaZulu blamed fixture congestion for his side’s defeat.
“I think they are tired…there was no intensity. On transition, we were very slow….defending the title is until the last day of the remaining two games, so we will go back to the drawing board and plan for the remaining games,” Pasuwa said.
Rare bad record for Pasuwa
This was for the first time in nine years that Nyasa Big Bullets lost a match to Mighty Wanderers and also surrender an eight year unbeaten home record.
Big Bullets needs to win their last two matches against Kamuzu Barracks and Karonga United to guarantee their title defence.
Pasuwa is chasing a personal third title on the bounce since joining Bullets and 15th overall for the club.
