HARARE – Independent legislator Temba Mliswa (Norton constituency) was on Wednesday suspended from parliament by the Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda for an alleged disorderly conduct.
Mudenda handed the outspoken Mliswa a ban of six sittings from the August house after the latter persistently disrupted other MPs from making contributions and also government ministers from responding.
The ruling is a first of its kind in Zimbabwe parliament since new Standing Orders measures were put into effect two weeks ago giving exclusive powers to the Chair to suspend a legislator for a certain period of time.
