Chaos erupted outside Parliament on Tuesday as MPs from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) were almost denied entry to Parliament for wearing yellow ties.
Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda on Tuesday ordered CCC lawmakers not to wear yellow clothes following protests by Zanu PF lawmakers.
CCC which is led by Nelson Chamisa introduced yellow as a party color when it was launched in February this year.
There was an uproar outside Parliament yesterday as security personnel attempted to prevent CCC MPs led by Tendai Biti from entering the august house.
Mudenda said CCC clothing will be inspected to ensure it does not conflict with rules of procedure and orders of Parliament.
The clothing issue is not new to Zimbabwe’s parliament, as then-MDC Alliance Murisi Zwizwai caused havoc in parliament in 2020 after demanding that Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi remove the scarf.
