HARARE – Njanja Express front-man Mark Ngwazi finally released his album Nharo Nezvinenharo on Friday with many positives already achieved through this masterpiece.
The seven track album is already making noise in the streets, affirming that sungura remains a dominant genre in the country though those who are aligned to other genres have already started to shoot their arrows.
Ngwazi has made many enemies of late due to the comparisons drawn between him and kingpin Alick Macheso who interestingly released his album “Tinosvitswa Nashe” a few weeks ago.
He has however dismissed the comparison with Macheso as misplaced and meant to fuel hate in the industry.
“I am not in competition with anyone because it’s hard to be someone else. Everyone is good at their trade and can never be compared to another.
“The target for me is always to beat the previous standards rather than be better than someone and that is what keeps me going not imaginary competition,” said Mark Ngwazi.
In the midst of all this hate, one thing remains true that Ngwazi is the present and future of sungura. The latest album is proving that notion judging with the way it has been received on the ground.
People have already started to repeat songs like “Nyaradzo yaBaba” , “Gokwe” and “Hwahwa” which are loaded with social commentary lines and well crafted melodies.
Mark Ngwazi fused English and Shona lines in most of the songs, something which has become his trademark in most projects.
The sound and mastering of Nharo Nezvinenharo album is on point something that Diamond Studios will take pride for when the debate in the streets gathers pace.
The album which is his sixth is completed by songs such as “Shamwari” , “Vakadzi” , “Upenyu” (God is Able), and “Zvipo”.
It was launched at Longchen Plaza in Belvedere, Harare at an executive gathering attended by invitation.
