DOHA – Argentina won the World Cup for the third time on Sunday after defeating France 4-2 in a penalty shootout.
The dramatic World Cup final at the Lusail Stadium ended 3-3 after extra time as France’s Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick and Argentina’s Lionel Messi scored twice while Angel Di Maria got another one.
After leading Argentina to victory over France in the World Cup final match, Messi was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player.
Messi ended the tournament with a total of seven goals scored.
On the other hand, Mbappe won the Golden Boot award at the youthful age of 24 thanks to his hat trick in the final game edging his Paris Saint German teammate Messi by one goal.
