HARARE – Darlington Dodo has been sacked as CAPS United coach after a poor run in the Chibuku Super Cup.
Dodo managed only two wins in ten Chibuku Super Cup group matches.
United failed to qualify for the knockout stages which resulted in Dodo coming under scrutiny.
His shortcomings were always on the showing after he presided over the collapse of the Green Machine in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title charge in 2019.
During that year, the team lost two decisive last games against Ngezi Platinum and eventual champions FC Platinum.
Former coach Lloyd Chitembwe who is at Harare City is rumoured to be on his way back to CAPS United.
It remains to be seen if Chitembwe, the most decorated CAPS United son will make the emotional return having left the team in a huff after a fallout with vice chairman Nhamo Tutisani.
Tutisani has been a cancer at the former Cup Kings, making uninformed decisions and falling out with players over different issues.
CAPS United are expected to announce a new coach this week ahead of the league resumption barely two years after it went into the abyss due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
United open their account with a tricky date against ZPC Kariba at Nyamhunga stadium this Saturday.
