PRETORIA – DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns bounced back in style with a 4-0 impressive win over out of sorts Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday afternoon at Loftus Versfeld stadium.
Sundowns needed just five minutes to take the lead after Gaston Sirino took advantage of a sloppy back pass from Siyabonga Ngezana in the box and struck from close range.
Amakhosi conceded a second goal ten minutes later when Peter Shalulile won a foul in Ngezana’s penalty area which he executed superbly.
It was Shalulile’s first goal of the DStv Premiership 2022/23 season.
Masandawana held on to their form and scored a third in the 53rd minute after Themba Zwane leapt into the box and sent a direct pass to Shalulile to find the bottom corner and complete his brace.
Chiefs could have made a comeback two minutes later when Sekgota was awarded a penalty after a foul in the box but Khama Billiat couldn’t beat Ronwen Williams who made a solid save.
Sundowns increased the tempo in the final ten minutes, to notch a fourth goal after substitute Abubaker Nasir Ngcobo turned around to the other side of the box and fired into the near corner.
