
HARARE – Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has called for the partial lifting of lockdown rules to allow religious services to resume.
“We must allow churches to open to a controlled number of people, provided there is social distancing, masking and other COVID-19 protocols,” he said.
The popular MDC Alliance leader made the remarks Thursday during an online Covid-19 address to the nation.
The People’s Leader also praised the efforts of the public health sector to fight the pandemic.
“We appreciate the various initiatives of the various stakeholders and the government. The response from the Ministry of Health (and Childcare) in particular and the government in general is noted and appreciated,” he said.
“Various initiatives have been launched to improve and improve the situation. In this regard, we salute our warriors; our nurses, our doctors, our health care workers who have stood the test of time as a battalion of patriots as national fanatics for their bravery and ingenuity across the country, and we are indebted to them, as well as to their families. We thank you, we appreciate you.
“We thank their families, they gave us soldiers, they gave us patriots and compatriots. We would also like to thank our environmental health experts who are conducting contact tracing. Our port health officials, lab scientists performing the tests, general hands cleaning stations and housing Covid-19 patients among many other health care workers.
Chamisa offered a number of solutions for the government to implement in its quest to stem the spread of this deadly respiratory disease that has paralyzed the entire world.
