Zimbabwean sprinter Ngoni Makusha finished first in Heat 1 of the preliminary round of the Tokyo Olympics men’s 100m early Saturday.
Makusha finished the heat in a time of 10.32s ahead of Fabrice Dabla from Togo who posted 10.57s and Yeykell Eliuth Romero from Nicaragua who clocked 10.62s in the same heat.
He is through to round 1 of the Men’s 100m. Makusha will be competing in Heat 6 later on Saturday.
The race will start at 13:25 hrs Zimbabwean time.
In the preliminary round Heat 1, the Zimbabwean athlete was the highest ranked athlete even before the race and he justified the billing.
