HARARE — Warriors midfielder Marshall Munetsi believes Zimbabwe are still good enough to beat South Africa in a World Cup qualifier on Friday despite missing some key players.
Munetsi said the players that are in camp have shown tremendous commitment and desire to win against Bafana Bafana.
“It’s sad that we are missing some players like Marvelous Nakamba, Tendayi Darikwa and Jordan Zemura who really wanted to be here with the rest of the guys. They are key players but that’s the situation that is there and we focus with them in spirit,” Munetsi said.
“The guys that are there are really geared for the match. It’s really an interesting game because I played in South Africa for sometime and will be facing some guys I know. I’m in touch with some of the players and we have been talking about this game so much.”
Munetsi comes into the match on the backdrop of a stellar performance for his French club Reims against the star studded PSG in which he did a sterling job containing superstar Lionel Messi.
The former Orlando Pirates man has also been good going forward, scoring a goal against Metz and had a goal disallowed by VAR against PSG.
The match between Zimbabwe and South Africa will be played on Friday at the National Sports Stadium. Kickoff is 3pm.
