JOHANNESBURG — Ace Magashule of the African National Congress (ANC) has lost his last legal bid to overturn his suspension after the party’s general secretary was ousted.

The Constitutional Court dismissed his request for leave to appeal on the ground that the chances of success were insufficient.

Magashule wanted to declare his suspension illegal, void and unconstitutional.

He also wanted the courts to uphold a suspension letter he had issued against ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The latest ruling means Ace Magashule remains suspended from the organization.

He has pledged to apologize to the party for trying to suspend Ramaphosa if the three courts reject his motion to have his own suspension overturned.

Instead, a brief Constitutional Court ruling that simply said there was no chance of success.

Magashule’s future hangs in the balance and those associated with Zweli Mkhize’s bid to become ANC leader are constantly tossing his name as a possible leader next December.
