HARARE – Zimbabwe journalist Hopewell Chin’ono’s bail appeal was on Thursday denied by High Court judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi who wrote the judgement but asked Justice Webster Chinamhora to read it instead. Justice Chinamhora told a stunned courtroom:
“This is a judgement by my brother judge. The operational part reads: ‘The appeal is hereby denied’.”
Chin’ono was arrested in July for exposing the excessive corruption in the Emmerson Mnangagwa led government and has seen his freedom bid hit a snag every time he gets into the courtroom.
