William Ruto defeats Raila Odinga in race for Kenyan presidency

Kenya's Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Dr William Ruto the winner of that country's recently held presidential election.

NAIROBI – Kenya’s Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati declared Dr William Ruto the winner of that country’s recently held presidential election.

Ruto garnered 7,176 141 votes which represents 50.49 per cent of the total valid votes.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga is second with 6,942,930 votes, representing 48.85 per cent of the total valid votes.

Odinga who was backed by outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta has already denounced the results through some officials from his camp.

There was chaos on Monday afternoon at the IEBC centre during the announcement of the final results with some commissioners distancing themselves from responsibility of final outcome.

Final results of Kenyan presidential election 2022 battle:-

William Ruto: 50.49% (7,176,141)

Raila Odinga: 48.85% (6,942,930)

George Wajakoyah: 0.44% (61,969)

David Mwaure: 0.23% (31,907)
