HARARE – The board of Cottco has repossessed a Toyota Land Cruiser VX-R flagship vehicle that had been issued to corruption accused chief executive officer Pious Manamike.
It comes after Manamike was arrested on Tuesday alongside Zanu PF member of parliament Justice Mayor Wadyajena and other Cotton Company of Zimbabwe (Cottco) officials, marketing manager Maxmore Njanji and acting procurement manager Fortunate Molai on charges of misappropriating US$5,8 million.

Manamike and Njani were suspended “without benefits” from Cottco in July and arrested for corruption.
They were granted $200 000 bail by Harare regional magistrate Stanley Mambanje on Thursday together with Wadyajena.
It is not yet clear why the Cottco directors moved to seize Manamike’s vehicle only and leave the one belonging to Njani.
However, one unnamed official said it could be that the vehicle owned by Njani is much older and may also have already paid for as part of the company’s vehicle program.
