HARARE – Vice President Kembo Mohadi has resigned from his post following unearthed immoral allegations that have dogged him in recent days.

The Ministry of Information has published Mohadi’s resignation letter, in which he pleads his innocence.

“Greetings to you citizens of this great nation,” the letter begins.

“First of all, I would like to thank the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, for the opportunity to serve under his grace for the past three years. I literally sat under his tutelage and drew in his wisdom, his clear vision and his political sense.

“Dear citizens, it is a pleasure and a privilege for me to bequeath to you the trust you place in me. Thank you for the tasks that I did efficiently and I apologize for the tasks that I did not do well. I pray for the humility, the dynamism and the greatness expressed by the feathers of your faith.

“I made a pilgrimage of introspection and realized that I needed space to confront my problems outside of the presidency.

“I made this decision not out of cowardice, but out of great respect for the office of President, lest it be compromised or caricatured by actions related to my personal challenges.”

“Networking with social media ecologies has sown viral moral panic, spread lies, created myths and blurred the reality of my life as a family man.

“I am a victim of information distortion, voice cloning, sponsored haunting and political sabotage. Digital media in its hybridity has been abused by my enemies to blackmail me, but my spirit will never die.

“Following the recurrent misinformation and virilization of my allegedly immoral unions being disseminated through clumsy negligence, I am resigning as Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe pursuant to Section 96(2) of the the Constitution of Zimbabwe (No. 20) with immediate effect,” the statement concluded.
