CHIHUAHUA – Zimbabwean boxer Kudakwashe ‘Take Money’ Chiwandire came up short in her attempt to capture the WBC Bantamweight Gold title on Sunday morning in Chihuahua, Mexico.
She fell to reigning champion Yamileth Mercado by a points decision after ten hard-fought rounds.
Despite enduring a shambolic travel arrangement that saw her arrive in Mexico on the eve of the fight without proper rest, Chiwandire displayed character and endurance throughout the bout.
Take Money bravely stood toe-to-toe with her opponent, refusing to back down.

Chiwandire’s build-up to the fight was nothing short of a nightmare.
She spent most of the week in South Africa processing her visa to Mexico before a cancelled connecting flight in the Netherlands forced her to spend another day in transit.
She only arrived in Mexico City on Saturday before taking another flight to Chihuahua for the fight.
Despite these challenges, Chiwandire put up an inspiring performance, taking Mercado all the way to a points decision. Her effort is a testament to her courage and determination in the face of adversity.
Chiwandire’s defeat is a setback, but she can hold her head high knowing that she gave her all in the ring.
Zimbabwe can be proud of their warrior, and look forward to seeing her continue to shine in future fights.
