Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood set the tone for the home side with a powerful finish, capitalizing on a weaving run from Joao Pedro along the edge of the penalty area.

The lead was doubled in the 23rd minute as Pedro converted from the penalty spot, taking advantage of Dejan Kulusevski’s foul on Welbeck.

Pervis Estupinan unleashed a thunderbolt from 30 yards in the 63rd minute, widening the gap further, and Pedro scored his second penalty 12 minutes later.

“I am really lucky to be the coach of this team with these players,” said a delighted Roberto De Zerbi.

“I am very pleased with the passion they have, they have everything. You can’t forget we are Brighton. Sometimes they forget we are Brighton. We are not Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle, or Arsenal; we are still Brighton.”

Despite Tottenham’s early-season form as pacesetters, this defeat keeps them in fifth place in the Premier League standings.

Brighton, however, showcased their resilience and attacking prowess, leaving an indelible mark in a thrilling encounter that defied expectations.
