The Egyptian Football Association confirmed the news, stating that Salah will miss the final group game against Cape Verde and any last-16 tie, should Egypt qualify.

The setback occurred during Egypt’s 2-2 draw against Ghana, with Salah leaving the pitch late in the first half.

Egypt, having drawn their opening two games, need a win against Cape Verde to secure advancement in second place in Group B.

Salah’s absence raises concerns about Egypt’s chances in the tournament.

In a statement, Salah expressed his gratitude for the support, “Today marks 10 years of this song. I was a wild young man. God has moulded me and kept me in his grace. All the glory to God. Meanwhile, Senegal, the defending champions, secured a spot in the last 16 with a convincing 3-1 victory over Cameroon.

Ismaila Sarr and Habib Diallo contributed to the early lead, and Sadio Mane sealed the win.

Senegal now tops Group C with six points.

Cape Verde became the first team to qualify for the last 16 after a convincing 3-0 win over Mozambique.

Bebe’s remarkable free-kick, along with goals from Ryan Mendes and Kevin Pina, ensured Cape Verde’s victory.

Captain Mendes expressed optimism, saying, “I don’t know how far we can go. Now we are into the last 16, and we just need to keep working as we have been.”

In other developments, Tanzania sacked coach Adel Amrouche after he was banned for eight matches and fined $10,000 over comments about Morocco.

Hemed Suleiman has been appointed as the caretaker boss for Tanzania’s remaining AFCON campaign.
