SANYATI — Anthrax infections in humans are on the rise in Sanyati district, Mashonaland West province, after 22 people were infected and treated since October last year according to a NewsDay report.

The latest case was recorded yesterday at Sanyati Clinic in Edziwa ward 12.

According to a Sanyati district anthrax cases situational report, the first case was recorded on October 15 in Kusi village, Gohwe area.

The case came about when a young man aged 21 years consumed a bovine carcass which had died from an unknown cause.

Gohwe area is situated in ward 18 and comprises Kusi, Katsuro, Ndaba, Dangaiso, Madhodha and Muguhwe villages.

NewsDay also reported that no death has been recorded, but two patients are still admitted at Sanyati Baptist Hospital (SBH).

Sanyati constituency is currently under the helm of ZANU PF member of parliament Polite Kambamura who has been accused of inaction and neglect of the people under his jurisdiction since assuming office.
