Chatunga’s attempted murder case postponed due to no electricity

Chatunga, who is the youngest son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, and his partner in 'crime' Matonhodze are facing seven charges in South Africa.

The pair, facing attempted murder charges over the February shooting of an employee at Mugabe’s Hyde Park home, were set to formally apply for bail but appeared only briefly before the matter rolled over to March 11.

Defence lawyer Sinenhlanhla Mnguni called the repeated delays, the second in a week “extremely frustrating” for the accused.

Power and service issues continue to plague proceedings at the court.

The charges include attempted murder, possession of a firearm and ammunition, defeating the ends of justice, contravening the Immigration Act, theft and pointing a firearm.
