BLANTYRE – Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima had a meeting with ombudsman Grace Malera and her team on Monday to discuss the progress of the reform initiatives that the institution is implementing to make the people’s defender more effective and responsive to the public.
Among others, Chilima said the Office of Ombudsman has deployed 463 hospital ombudsmen in health centres across the country to help the marginalized to access timely justice.
“The initiative will lead to the setting up of a door step platform for aiding the marginalized to access timely and quality services to address injustices,” Chilima said.
He then said that it is expected the Initiative will be extended to other equally high service demand areas such as Road Traffic Directorate and the Ministry of Education.
