The Warriors got a major boost ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations finals opener against Senegal on Monday after all the 22 players tested negative to Covid-19.

Many teams teams in Cameroon have had their preparations torn apart by Covid-19 with the Warriors’ opponents, Senegal having to make do without nine players including Chelsea goalkeeper Eduardo Mendy and Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly for the clash against the Warriors.

The Zimbabwean medical team led by Nick Munyonga and Edward Chagonda have been implementing rigorous protocols from the time the Warriors were in camp in Harare up to their base in Bafoussam to minimise the chances of the players of contracting the virus.

A lot of teams have been affected by Covid-19 with Morocco, Senegal, Ivory Coast and Algeria among the most affected countries.

CAF indicated that teams participating must play their fixtures if they have at least 11 players who have tested negative for Covid-19. In the event that all the goalkeepers have been affected by Covid-19, an infield will play as a goalkeeper.

A team that does not have a minimum of 11 players available will be considered to have lost the match 0-2.
