ANC mourns filmmaker Shona Ferguson

The ruling party African National Congress (ANC) has joined millions across the globe in mourning the late filmmaker Shona Ferguson who died recently in Johannesburg.

PRETORIA – The ruling party African National Congress (ANC) has joined millions across the globe in mourning the late filmmaker Shona Ferguson who died recently in Johannesburg.

In a statement, the ANC said it “has learned with shock” of the passing of renowned actor and producer, Shona Ferguson. 

“The ANC conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the entire entertainment industry. 

“May his soul rest in peace and rise in glory,” the party said on Tuesday in a statement.

ALICIA PAYS TRIBUTE TO SHONA FERGUSON

Meanwhile, Alicia Ferguson, daughter of the late filmmaker has paid tribute to her father and vowed to continue with the legacy he left behind. 

“Words cannot express how I’m feeling right now. My worst fear became a reality. You fought your fight dad, and I’m so proud of you for making it this far. You’ve not only touched our lives as your family, but you’ve touched many others as well. 

“You’ve left a legacy behind that I will carry on, as I did make this promise when I was little to you. Thank you for everything that you’ve done for me,” said Alicia, the daughter to Shona and Connie Ferguson

The popular South African actor-cum-producer Shona Ferguson died aged 47 on Friday, due to Covid-19 complications. 

Ferguson who was born in Botswana and was famous for a Dstv show, The Queen, died at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg on Friday after a short illness. 

He will be laid to rest this Wednesday in a private ceremony according to his stable Ferguson Films (FF). 

“The Ferguson family would like to confirm that the late Shona Ferguson will be laid to rest in a private ceremony attended only by family members on Wednesday, 4 August 2021. 

Details of a memorial service will be communicated at a later stage once all the necessary arrangements have been finalised,” the statement by the Ferguson Films reads.
