HARARE – CAPS United have sacked five senior players accused of being the ring leaders for the Sunday industrial action which saw the match against Cranborne Bullets being delayed by thirty minutes.
The five, Rodwell Chinyengetere, Devon Chafa, Clive Augusto, Ronald Chitiyo and Denis Dauda were fired as the CAPS United executive is using the divide and rule tactic on the players.
“This was a collective effort from all the players, the executive is just being vindictive over nothing. They are now trying to divide the players, pardoning others and firing some,” said one of the sacked players.
“We signed contracts and we are just demanding what we signed for. These are negotiated contracts and they should own up. If they no longer have the money, they should just sell the team.
“We know they rush to their friends in the media and sanitise their side and call us players names for demanding what is due to us. We worked for the money that we are demanding,” added the player on condition of anonymity.
CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe who is close to the club president Farai Jere described the strike by the players as thuggish. CAPS United lost the match 2-0 to Cranborne Bullets.
