Chiragwi to join struggling big boys

Zimbabwe national team assistant coach Takesure Chiragwi is believed to be on the verge of joining struggling Harare side CAPS United as a replacement for Lloyd Chitembwe.

HARARE – Zimbabwe national team assistant coach Takesure Chiragwi is believed to be on the verge of joining struggling Harare side CAPS United as a replacement for Lloyd Chitembwe.

According to sources, Chiragwi is set to be unveiled as the new CAPS United coach on Thursday at a scheduled press event set to be addressed by club president Farai Jere.

Deco as he is affectionately called in football circles reportedly terminated his contract with fellow Premier League side Ngezi Platinum Stars earlier this week.

He won the league title in 2023 with the Mhondoro based club but due to recent financial struggles being faced by Zimplats, the fortunes of the club have deteriorated forcing the gaffer to leave.

It is believed that Chiragwi, who is a former Makepekepe player was recommended for the top job by outgoing coach Chitembwe who has since been offered the role of Technical Director.

The club also brought in another former player in Ian Bakala to deputize the new coach as part of a restructuring exercise meant to strengthen the Green Machine culture.

Bakala is also a national team coach for the junior’s team of his country Zambia and his appointment will be of benefit to the youthful players at CAPS United as they seek to turn around their fortunes.

The team is languishing in relegation zone after ten games.
