Elon Musk daughter separates with father, files for name change

Elon Musk's transgender daughter has filed for a legal change of name and gender, saying she no longer wants to be "related to my biological father in any way".

LOS ANGELES – Elon Musk’s transgender daughter has filed for a legal change of name and gender, saying she no longer wants to be “related to my biological father in any way”.

The 18-year-old asked to be recognized as a woman and to be called Vivian Jenna Wilson.

She was known as Xavier Alexander Musk.

The request for a name change and a new birth certificate was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica.

His request is set out in court documents filed in April that only recently came to light.

There were no further details of the apparent rift between Mr Musk’s daughter and her father.

The Tesla and SpaceX contractor has yet to comment.

Elon Musk was married to Vivian’s mother, Canadian author Justine Wilson, from 2000 until their divorce in 2008.

Their first son, Nevada, was born in 2002 and died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) at the age of 10 weeks.

The couple had twin sons named Xavier and Griffin and triplets – Damian, Kai and Saxon.

He has two other children, X Æ A-Xii and Exa Dark Sideræl – who goes by the name Y – with singer Grimes, with whom he has had an on-and-off relationship.

His children kept a relatively low profile despite their father’s fame.

On Father’s Day, the entrepreneur tweeted that he loved all of his kids.

There was no comment from Mr Musk on his daughter’s decision to distance herself from him.

He has spoken out on various transgender issues and has been called anti-gay on several occasions. Last year he complained about people using their own pronouns.

The court document for his daughter’s name and gender reassignment was filed a month before he publicly declared his support for the Republican Party, after voting for the Democrats.

He also said he is a fan of Ron DeSantis, the Republican governor of Florida who introduced the so-called “Don’t Say Gay” law.

This controversial law prevents schools from teaching students about sexual orientation and gender issues, and teachers face legal action if they fail to comply.

In 2020, Elon Musk wrote “pronouns suck” on Twitter before deleting it. He then said, “I absolutely support trans people, but all these pronouns are an aesthetic nightmare.”
