HARARE – Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) de facto President, Phelimon Machana, who has held Zimbabwe football at ransom together with Felton Kamambo have sacked Croatian gaffer Zdravko ‘Loga’ Logarusic.
Today 131 years ago, the pioneer column pitched at Harare Kopje, signalling a reverse change for Zimbabwe, but today ZIFA met at the HQ and made a long overdue decision to sack the useless Warriors coach Zdravko Logarusic.
His assistant coaches Lloyd Chitembwe and Tonderai Ndiraya were sacked too with the Bryton Malandule technical and development committee given the task to make recommendations for a new gaffer.
The fate of Benjani Mwaruwari who was recently drafted into the setup as the third assistant to Logarusic will like hinge on the Malandule committee.
The committee have until Monday to submit the names from which the executive committee will appoint a new coach.
A local gaffer will be in charge for the Ghana match in Kumasi on October 10 before a return four days later in Harare.
The forgettable tenure of Loga came to an end in agonising fashion, having put the whole nation into a mad cow cycle for 14 matches with just a Botswana win via a Chikwende rebound.
Eight draws and five loses is a record never beaten since Zimbabwe played organized football more than 75 years ago.
ZIFA have to announce a new coach by this week so that he can immediately begin work ahead of the qualifiers.
The meeting was noticeably professional with the bully de facto President Phelimon Machana respectful to other members, a welcome departure from his modus operandi that has defined how ZIFA has operated for two and half years.
