FC Platinum secured a crucial result away to Sagrada Esperanca after holding the Angolan champions to a goalless draw in CAF Champions League match in Luanda on Saturday.
FC Platinum goalkeeper Petros Mhari put up a man of the match performance with a number of important saves that kept Sagrada Esperanca at bay.
Platinum coach Norman Mapeza was elated with the result and credited his players for showing character.
“I’m really happy with the result because we haven’t been playing football for one and a half years in Zimbabwe. We only started training three weeks ago so I’m really happy with the performance,” Mapeza said.
Pure Platinum Play as the Zimbabwean champions are referred to had to play the last ten minutes of the match a man short after Kelvin Mangiza was given a red card.
The return leg is on at the National Sports stadium next weekend.
