Foreign scouts will grace the Marvelous Nakamba Foundation national U17 Invitational Tournament in Bulawayo next weekend to identify talent.
Highlanders, Dynamos, Njube Spurs, Hwange Dynamo, Albun Academy, Bulawayo City, Ajax Hotspurs and Chicken Inn are expected to participate in the two day tournament at White City stadium from 25 June to 26 June.
Nakamba who came through the Bantu Rovers junior structures said he wants to create a similar platform for young players to rise to the highest level in football.
“Grassroots football is very important for the survival of the game. We all came through the system and we benefited because we were afforded the chance at an early age,” Nakamba said.
“Henceforth, it is befitting that we continue with the tradition of supporting grassroots sports. We believe every child can succeed.”
Nakamba is constructing a multipurpose Marvelous Nakamba Sports Complex in Bulawayo’s Mahatshula suburb. The Aston Villa midfielder assists more than 1000 underprivileged children with school fees nationwide.
