Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Chairwoman Helen Zille has said South Africans live in a failed state, but people in the Western Cape, especially Cape Town, don’t see it.
Zille who was speaking to Clement Manyathela on The Clement Manyathela Show said they are pushing for a much more workable federalism in the Western Cape to protect the citizens of the failed state.
“Other provinces are feeling the effects of a failed state with the constant breakdown of infrastructure, roads so full of holes you can’t drive through, and the failed state slapping them around,” Zille said.
“Being poor in Langa in Cape Town is a hundred, if not a thousand times better than being poor in many townships in the rest of the country.”
The former DA leader added that poverty afflicts people who travel to the Western Cape in search of work, schools and functioning health facilities.
