HARARE – A Harare judge, Taurai Manuwere, has issued an arrest warrant for Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Makomborero Haruzivishe after he failed to appear in court.
Haruzivishe’s lawyer Alec Muchadehama pleaded with judge Manuwere for leniency before an arrest warrant was issued.
“The date is by consent of your worship as it will give us ample time to track the whereabouts of Makomborero, as we are also not aware of his whereabouts, “said Muchadehama.
Haruzuvishe is charged along with CCC members Joana Mamombe Cecilia Chimbiri, Stanley Manyenga and Lovejoy Chitengu in a case alleging they staged a march in violation of COVID-19 regulations.
He was released in January after 10-month pre-trial incarceration for public order offences.
Mamombe and the three other accomplices appeared before Judge Manuwere and were remanded in custody until September 16.
