BULAWAYO – SuperSport United player Kuda Mahachi‘s son Diego claims his father beat him up with a phone charger and poured hot water on him which caused third degree burns.
According to veteran journalist Ezra Tshisa Sibanda who interviewed the boy and his mother Marita Ndlovu at Mpilo hospital in Bulawayo, a case has since been reported with the police and investigations are now underway.
“This page is in possession of the interview of the child where he confirms he was beaten up and poured hot water by the father Kuda Mahachi. The child didn’t say anything about the step mother but insisted he was beaten by a phone charger and poured hot water by the father,” wrote Sibanda on his Facebook page.
“The child has 3rd degree burns and doctors have confirmed injuries are results of burns from hot water. The injuries according to health experts are between 6 and 8 weeks old judging from the way the wounds were infected. This page today visited the hospital to investigate.
“The child was indeed admitted to the hospital on the 20th of April as the mother said during interviews. The child is getting better though he cries at times complaining of itchy wounds.”
According to Sibanda, the child left Zimbabwe on 25 February 2022 for South Africa where Mahachi is based but was smuggled back into Zimbabwe at an unknown date and the mother was called to pick up the child at Mahachi’s grandmother’s place on 19 April 2022.
Mahachi who will be leaving SuperSport at the end of the season following the expiry of his contract, has since written to the mother of his child through his lawyers threatening to sue her over the allegations that he burnt the child with hot water.
Mahachi who has fallen from grace on the football side, wants her to retract the statements to the media.
