ANTWERP – Prince Edward Academy product Bill Antonio has signed a two year contract with Belgian top flight side KV Mechelen, the club has confirmed.
Antonio left Dynamos for Belgium last week after impressing KV Mechelen during a trial stint in July. The 20 year old has an option of extending his stay at the club by another two years.
KV Mechelen sporting director Tom Caluwé spoke glowingly about Antonio saying the winger will start off with the club’s U23 team so that he gets used to the system.
“Bill Antonio is no stranger to Mechelen. This summer he already came to do an internship with our promises. In this he was able to convince the sporting cell,” Caluwé said.
“Bill is a fast right wing with an action in the feet,” says sporting director Tom Caluwé. To integrate, he will play with our U23 at the beginning.”
Antonio was a revelation at Dynamos after being plucked from the Prince Edward Academy. He made his debut for the Warriors in 2021 under Norman Mapeza featuring in the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Ethiopia.
