HARARE – Veteran actress Mai Sorobhi, real name, Rhoda Mtembe (Muchabaiwa) of the Paraffin series fame has died aged 79 years after succumbing to stroke at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
Mai Sorobhi was a yesteryear household name together with Phillip Mushangwe known as Paraffin in the Paraffin series.
The death of Rhoda Mtembe was confirmed by her grandchild Admire Kuzhangaira popularly known in arts sector as Bhutisi.
“My grandmother is no more. She died today after being struck twice. As she was recovering, she was attacked again last week,” Bhutisi said.
Mourners are gathered at her Kuwadzana Extension home. According to Bhutisi, funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
