Former President Dr Joyce Banda, says she is proud to see with support of TNM, the Market Women’s Activities and Initiatives (MWAI) women are busy organising themselves into Village Banks and are having access to e-banking, digital and financial inclusion.
She founded MWAI in 2010 to create a platform for market women enabling the Joyce Banda Foundation to mobilise women in the informal sector to work together, pull resources together, grow their businesses so that they can graduate to the formal sector.
“From 2010 MWAI has grown again all odds to 400,000 rural women countrywide, 5000 of whom are chillie and soya growers,” Dr Banda wrote on her Facebook page.
