Former Tsholotsho and TelOne forward Mcebisi Moyo was the toast of the day at the Botswana Premier League side Sua Flamingoes players awards on Thursday winning two awards for his outstanding performance in the just ended 2021/2022 season.
Moyo who was lured to Sua Flamingoes by coach Rahman Gumbo at the beginning of the season last year, was voted Player of the Season pocketing 7 500 Pula. He got another 5000 Pula for winning the Players Player of the Season award.
The Bulawayo born player who had nine goals and 11 assists said he is delighted to have made an impact in his first season at the club.
“It’s not easy going to a foreign club and quickly make an impact. I’m really glad for this achievement, I also give credit to my teammates, the coaches and the management for the support which made me win these two awards,” Moyo said.
“This recognition gives me the energy to continue working hard. I hope to continue with the same shift or even more when we return next season and give glory to Sua Flamingoes family. I’m really grateful.”
Moyo’s compatriot Tendai Nyumasi who is the club’s captain got the Golden Boot award having finished the season with 13 goals. He walked away with 5000 Pula.
Another Zimbabwean at the club, former CAPS United striker Dominic Chungwa ended the season with nine goals in his first season having moved in from Lumwana Radiants of Zambia.
Rahman Gumbo received the chairman’s award and got 5 000 Pula for guiding the club to a seventh place finish in their maiden season in the Botswana Premier League.
