Mnangagwa fires deputy minister Karoro

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired deputy agriculture minister Douglas Karoro over theft of presidential farm inputs donations.

HARARE – President Emmerson Mnangagwa fired deputy agriculture minister Douglas Karoro on Thursday over theft of presidential farm inputs donations.

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said Karoro has been fired for inappropriate conduct.

“His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe de E D Mnangagwa, in terms of section 340, subsection (1), paragraph (f), as read with section 104, subsection (1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, has with immediate effect, removed Honourable Douglas Karoro (MP) from Office of Deputy Minister of Government, for conduct inappropriate for a Deputy Minister,” he said.

Karoro was recently arrested with two other accomplices on charges of stealing presidential farm inputs from Mushumbi Pools GMB depot worth US$73 300. He was later granted a ZW$50,000 bail.
