CAPE TOWN – Money Matters, a series produced in South Africa by Atlantic Whales Productions with a full cast of Zimbabwean nationals took film streaming by storm when it premiered in 2019.
In this whole excitement and warm embrace, there is an untold epic story behind the scenes which is even more interesting.
The tale behind the scenes is about the cast which made its filming debut during the production of the series except reputable actor, Chester Munakamwe.
Among the crew of debutantes was Kudzi Tutsirai Gwenya who starred in the series as Natalie.
Money Matters is a short romantic or love series directed by Capetown-based filmmaker Matthew Sande which touches on monetary issues having a forbearance in modern day relationships.
The film unpacks the reality within the global societies by showing how an economic crunch can make monetary gain a priority over real love.
A guy named Tinashe (Chester Munakamwe), who is a hustler falls in love with a girl named Natalie (Kudzi Tutsirai Gwenya).
The love meets challenges as Natalie’s family pushes her to demand money from her fiancee.

Gwenya opened up to RosGwen24 News about her experience during the production of the first episode of the series which was brought to a halt by the global pandemic Covid-19.
The actress who is currently based in Cape Town said acting was always part of her life but a proper platform to exhibit the treasure was not available until the Atlantic Whales Productions project.
“I can call it a passion, since my childhood I always wanted to be an actress, to learn new things and also be able to be someone I am not,” said Gwenya.
“I used to act some dramas at school and also at church but I was a little bit shy,” she chuckled.
Gwenya said she gathered the courage to take the role for the series because of her experience as a social media personality which made it easy to blend with others.
“I watch movies a lot, so I told myself that now is the time, I am a social media person so I have learnt a lot. I didn’t want fear to stop me so I volunteered for that role,” said the actress who is also a script writer.
“I had to practice a bit, but I noticed that acting is not all about practising, its something that you can do with or without any practice,” Gwenya explained.
The 36-years-old Murewa born actress paid tribute to the experienced Manakamwe who has become a mentor to Gwenya and the other cast.
Munakamwe became famous for his roles in the action movie “Go Chanaiwa Go” and local soapie opera “Wenera”.
“There is a guy called Chester, who is one of us. He is the one who always give me advice and guidance so I see him as my mentor. He is more experienced in this industry,” said Gwenya.
The actress who is making waves due to her stellar acting is looking forward to the future and delivered the sweet news that Money Matters is still on cards.
“Our project Money Matters is still on and we have more new projects coming,” she revealed.
