Montenegro master Predrag Jaredic to join Manica Diamonds

Manica Diamonds are believed to be in talks with a Montenegro coach Predrag Jaredic to appoint him as the new coach to save the sinking ship.

MUTARE – Struggling side Manica Diamonds are believed to be in talks with a Montenegro coach Predrag Jaredic to appoint him as the new captain to save the sinking ship.

The Gem Boys are ahead in their talks with the 39-year-old Jaredic whose last job was with Chinese Super League side Qingdao Hainiu FC mainly working with the club’s Under 21 side.

But the struggling Mutare side who face the threat of regelation this season as they are stuck on position 15 with 21 points after 20 games, face competition for Jaredic’s signature from rivals Highlanders and Zambian side Nchanga Rangers.

According to a source, Nchanga Rangers want to recruit the coach but Jaredic who is open to coaching in Africa prefers to work in Zimbabwe.

“Well, Predrag (Jaredic) has been offered to Manica Diamonds though talks are not yet advanced. Highlanders have been informed but are yet to explore the option to recruit this gaffer,” said the source.

Predrag Jaredic who is managed by football agent Wilson Chipangura is said to be attracted to Zimbabwe through Warriors coach Michael Nees who has revitalized the national team since his appointment.

Just like his role model, Jaredic who is a holder of the UEFA A coaching license is a modern, ambitious football coach who prefers offensive football.

Manica Diamonds chairman Masimba Chihowa has a crucial decision to make in the remaining games whether to keep faith in interim coach Tafadzwa Mashiri or to appoint Jaredic as the new coach.

Mashiri was elevated to head coach recently following the sacking of Jairos Tapera recently but just like his predecessor he has found the going tough.
