GWERU – Veteran coach Moses Chunga has left his position as head coach at Central Region Soccer League side Chapungu amid reports of frustration due to lack of support from the executive.

Chunga joined Chapungu with the hope of bringing the side back into the Premier Soccer League but decided to throw in the towel as his ambition was not tallying with that of the club’s executive.

“He has left for Harare, he is no longer with us. He was frustrated by some executive members, actually every time he tried to seek audience with the hierarchy over the welfare of the players, he was told this was a military team and they do things their way,” said a source at Chapungu.

“There wasn’t much support except the team bus really that was coming from the executive. Look at the kits that are worn by Chapungu, they don’t resemble that of a team that is owned by the government.

“There is also belief that some executive members were aiding those teams that are in contention against Chapungu.”

Chapungu are a massive 17 points behind log leaders Sheasham and will have to wait for next season to have a go at the league title.
