Zimbabwe international utility player Marshall Munetsi made his much anticipated Europa League debut on Thursday night as his French Ligue 1 side Stade de Reims labored to victory against Swiss team Servette.
Stade de Reims won the match 1-0 courtesy of a Valon Berisha early strike in the 4th minute to ensure the French side qualify to the third round play-offs.
A victory in the third round will help Les rouges et blancs to qualify and join other big guns for the group stages.
Munetsi played the full match and was outstanding in the centre back position he was deployed to play against Servette.
The former Orlando Pirates utility player has received rave reviews in France for his composed play with recent reports linking him with a move to the English Premier League.
His performances will be good news to Zimbabwe national team coach Zdravko Logarusic who is looking at the prospects of selecting a competitive side for the Afcon qualifier encounter against Algeria in November.
