Talented musician and actor Terry G dies after heart battle

Zimbabwe's music and entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of gospel musician and actor, Tichaona Terrence Green, affectionately known as Terry G.

HARARE – Zimbabwe’s music and entertainment industry is in mourning following the sudden death of gospel musician and actor, Tichaona Terrence Green, affectionately known as Terry G.

The talented artist passed away due to a cardiac arrest while receiving treatment at Arundel Hospital.

The 36-year-old Terry G had been battling cerebral palsy and was also diagnosed with a heart and lung disease.

His manager, Edison December, confirmed the devastating news, stating, “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Terry G.

“He succumbed to a cardiac arrest while at Arundel Hospital. His legacy in the gospel music and entertainment industry will be remembered.”

Tery G’s health struggles were made public earlier this week when his mother, Violet Green, shared the news of his critical condition.

She appealed for prayers and support, stating, “Terry is not well in the hospital. We request prayers and strong positive energy because Terry is in a critical condition.”

In response to the family’s plea, members of the public rallied together to raise funds for Terry G’s medical expenses.

His devoted fans and well-wishers managed to collect $250 to contribute to his brain scan.

Despite facing the challenges of cerebral palsy, Terry G became a prominent figure in Zimbabwe’s entertainment scene, known for his uplifting gospel music and impactful contributions as an actor.

In 2003, he played a significant role in the ZBC TV drama series Zviri Mudzimba, showcasing his versatility and talent.

Terry G’s collaboration with fellow artist Chipo Muchegwa on the songs “Ndezvemoyo” and “Makafanana” catapulted him to fame, earning him a special place in the hearts of many Zimbabweans.

The music video for “Makafanana” has garnered 2.9 million views on YouTube, a testament to the widespread appreciation for his work.

As Zimbabweans grieve the loss of Terry G, funeral arrangements will be communicated to the public in due course, allowing friends, family, and fans to pay their respects and honor the legacy of a remarkable artist.
