KUMASI – Zimbabwe captain Knowledge Musona has already arrived in Ghana as the Warriors wants to have more days for preparations ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against the Black Stars.
Musona who warmed up to the game with a goal for his Saudi side Al-Tai at the weekend was joined by the Tanzania based duo of Never Tigere and Bruce Kangwa who also arrived in Accra on Monday.
The Warriors technical department and local based players Rahman Kutsanzira, Kelvin Madzongwe leaves Zimbabwe on Tuesday and link up with South Africa based players as well as Zambia based Thabani Kamusoko on their way to Accra.
The England based contingent of Marvelous Nakamba, Brandon Galloway, Tendayi Darikwa and Jordan Zemura are also expected in Accra on Tuesday.
United States based defender Teenage Hadebe is the last to join camp as he arrives in Accra on Wednesday.
The Warriors will then leave for the Cape Coast city immediately after Hadebe’s arrival where the match will be played on Saturday.
The General Manager for the national teams Wellington Mpandare said there was however concern over the availability of the England based contingent for the return leg in Harare because of the UK government COVID-19 restrictions.
“We are still hoping that the players will be allowed to come to Zimbabwe for the return match because as it is now they are not allowed to travel to Zimbabwe because of the conditions set by the UK government.
“We are just hoping that maybe some intervention happens so that they are allowed to travel to Zimbabwe but that’s the situation on the ground at the moment,” Mpandare said.
The Warriors will have their first training session as a unit on Wednesday, having three full days training ahead of the match. The return fixture is on next Tuesday October 12 at the National Sports stadium in Harare.
