Nakamba puts marvelous show in Villa's win, Kadewere starts for Lyon

Zimbabwe international midfielder Marvelous Nakamba was back at his best with a stellar show for Aston Villa in their victory over Burton.

BIRMINGHAM – Zimbabwe international midfielder Marvelous Nakamba was back at his best with a stellar show for Aston Villa in their victory over Burton.

Nakamba who has been criticized for his lack of agility in some quarters played the whole game as Aston Villa came from behind to win 3-1 and progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup also known as the EFL Cup. 

Villa had conceded an early goal, in the 2nd minute but recovered to beat Burton Albion with new boy Ollie Watkins, immaculate Jack Grealish and clinical Keinan Davis all finding the back of the net. 

Villa’s first goal came from record signing Ollie Watkins, who took the number 11 jersey away from Nakamba. 

The second goal of the night came from Jack Grealish who scored on the day that he penned a new five-year deal with the club. 

Still in the Carabao Cup, prospective Warriors striker Macauley Bonne started for third-tier Charlton as they lost 3-0 away to West Ham. 

Jordan Zemura, another Zimbabwean in England made his debut for Championship side Bournemouth in their Carabao Cup match against Premier League side Crystal Palace on Tuesday night. 

Zemura played the full match as his side drew 0-0 to Crystal Palace but went on to win 11-10 in an incredible penalty shootout.

The young Zemura scored his penalty to help his side proceed to the next round. 

In France, prolific striker Tino Kadewere made his first start as Olympique Lyon lost 2-1 to Montpellier in a Ligue 1 match, their first defeat of the season. 

Tino was taken off in the 55th minute for Memphis Depay, who went on to score from the spot.
