Veteran administrator Ndumiso Gumede dies

Veteran Zimbabwean footballer administrator Ndumiso Gumede has died.

BULAWAYO – Veteran Zimbabwean footballer administrator Ndumiso Gumede has died.

He was 76.

Details about his death are still sketchy but the veteran administrator regarded as the doyen of football administration passed away Wednesday afternoon.

His death comes just after days he honoured by Highlanders for his immense contribution to the club and football at large in Bulawayo and the country.

Born in Bulawayo in 1945, Gumede trained as a teacher, taught in Highfields in Harare and Bulawayo.

He served in various capacities at Highlanders as club’s representative in Harare in the 1970s before return to Bulawayo to be the club’s chairman.

During his time Highlanders managed to acquire properties which includes the club’s offices, camping house and a club house.

Gumede also served at the Zimbabwe Football Association as vice president.

At the time of his demise, Gumede was the Highlanders president.
