LONDON – Nottingham Forest secured a 3-1 triumph against Newcastle United on Tuesday, with Chris Wood delivering a spectacular hat-trick against his former club.
This victory marked Nuno Espirito Santo‘s first win as Forest’s manager, bringing an end to the team’s winless streak.
Wood, who joined Nottingham Forest in June after departing Newcastle, had struggled to find the net with his new team, scoring only four times before the encounter at St James’ Park.
However, the New Zealand striker showcased his goal-scoring prowess by equalizing late in the first half after Alexander Isak’s penalty had given Newcastle the lead.
In the second half, Wood continued his heroics, finding the net twice more to complete his hat-trick and secure the much-needed victory for Forest.
The win marked Forest‘s first in eight games and only their second in the last 15 matches, providing a significant boost for Nuno Espirito Santo, who took over from the sacked Steve Cooper.

“It was a great performance from the lads. We know how big the game was. It’s great to come here and get the win,” said Chris Wood after the match, expressing his delight at the victory.
In another development, an alleged racist comment during Luton‘s 3-2 win over Sheffield United is being investigated by South Yorkshire Police.
Carlton Morris, a Luton player, reported the incident, stating that the comment came from a United fan, leading to police involvement in the matter.

Meanwhile, in Fulham’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, an incident involving Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno and a ball boy drew attention.
Leno appeared to make deliberate contact with the ball boy’s shoulder after collecting the ball, prompting discussion and an apology from the goalkeeper.
Fulham boss Marco Silva addressed the incident, saying, “Have you seen him pushing? I didn’t see this. Yes, he apologized. I spoke with Bernd about it.”
The incident raised questions about sportsmanship, with debates ongoing about the appropriateness of the goalkeeper’s actions.
